Our client is embarking on an exciting stage of its journey by growing its Solar division in the UK/Europe and globally. They have been growing further into an international utility-scale solar developer & operator. They develop, finance, construct, own and operate our own large-scale projects. This approach enables them to positively make a difference in the fight against climate change. For their growing Solar/Renewable division in the UK & Europe they are now hiring a Senior Manager to be based in the UK. This new role will be focused on managing the current team, operations and business development for this growing division. The successful candidate will lead the entire Solar/Renewable division covering all active disciplines from development/sales, operations to accounts, legal and HR. The applicant should have a strong understanding and breadth of experience in the development processes and construction of solar energy projects, and have a proven track record of successfully managing and developing multi-disciplinary teams. They should also be experienced with full P+L responsibility and delivering on profitability targets. This role will involve · Managing existing management and team in the region, specifically the Head of the division and team. Business Development in Mexico, Head of Operations, LATAM Project Development Manager, Business Development manager, Accountant and Legal Counsel · Working with the MMB (Management Board) to define annual and long-term strategy and budget. · Regularly reporting to the MMB team (at least once a month, though more frequently as required) regarding consolidated forecast for the region, exec overview on market outlook and any key pending/forecasted issues e.g. legal disputes, accounting, HR issues etc Key activities and responsibilities: · Working with MMB, and regional teams to define regional strategy and budgets by country · Consolidated forecasting for the region on a monthly basis · Advising/forecasting required changes in strategy in line with market evolution · Ensuring achievement of the annual regional budget · Identifying skills gaps in existing team and forecasting future resources requirements · Managing the annual regional budget and delivering the forecasted development pipeline · Supporting the regional teams with contract negotiations and engagement with developers, investors, suppliers/subcontractors, external lawyers and technical advisors · Supporting local operations team and HQ in defining local outsourcing/tendering strategy for relevant EPC works · Ensuring the implementation of, and adherence to client’s processes · Supporting the local and HQ teams with defining/preparing auction strategy and bid submissions · Managing and developing projects using internal and external resources within required timeframes and budgets Qualifications and experience: The successful candidate will have experience in developing and acquiring solar or other renewable projects in the UK and Europe, managing multi-disciplinary teams and managing P+L and development budgets. You will have a full understanding of the development process from greenfield to COD with a good understanding of solar project economics and the related financing structures and investors. You will be aware of local supply chain and potential pitfalls related to regional construction/logistics and importation/tax issues within the key markets. Experience working with and managing external partners such as law firms and technical advisors. This is a demanding role that will require a candidate to show a great deal of leadership and adaptability in line with the rapidly evolving markets.
