I am recruiting for a Future Networks Senior Consultant to be part of my clients growing Smart Networks division, and support them in the transition from DNO to DSO. This role is at the forefront of developing and delivering client solutions in fields such as network modelling, power flow analysis, asset management strategies, integration of renewable and low carbon technologies, use of flexibility solutions and network performance data analysis across Utilities. Requirements: You will be able to provide subject matter expertise on energy networks and integration of renewable energy sources including energy storage technologies. For example, you will be asked to define the technical specifications for Utilities networks monitoring, network operations and control strategies, asset management using Common Network Asset Methodology. Programme/Project Management Quality assurance including technical aspects of project deliverables to (i) ensure the delivery of the desired project outcomes to the required technical quality; and (ii) ensure that the key strategic outcomes of the projects are recorded, analysed, communicated clearly. Develop business cases and tender specifications, prepare collateral material. Direct responsibility for ensuring propositions/bids successfully transition from initial proposal to contract signature stage and managing the outputs of supporting roles. Identify new and innovative opportunities, to build a multi-year pipeline of projects for clients. Capability development; including the development of tools, models and analytical approaches. Experience / Skills: Degree level, or equivalent, in electrical/power systems engineering or related discipline. At least 5 years’ experience delivering projects in the power sector or other highly relevant project delivery. Proven work-winning skills in preparing successful proposals, developing client relationships and delivering excellent customer experiences with Good working knowledge and experience in a variety of power systems modelling, simulation and analysis tools and techniques including uses of commercial software packages (e.g. PSSE, Power Factory or PSSE Sincal). · Knowledge and understanding of regulatory framework applicable to UK DNOs. · Knowledge and understanding of industry Code of Practices such as Distribution Code, Grid Code, Code of Practice for competition in Connections. · Understanding of industry standards such as Planning standards, Security of Supply standards, Electricity Supply Quality and Continuity Regulations. Understanding of emerging industry trends such as the Distribution System Operator transition, grid flexibility services, net zero carbon developments and the Open Networks initiative. · Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Self-motivated. Desirable: Knowledge, understanding and experienced in the use of Common Network Asset Indices Methodology, Regulatory Cost Benefit analysis Ability to develop a clear evidence base and Cost/Benefit analysis to decision making process. Experience supporting the DG/DER development lifecycle process and standards, particularly the connection application process and emerging, innovative solutions. Experience in electricity market, commercial and regulatory areas, including balancing market, new flexibility services and new business models for energy assets and network operation.
