They have designed and developed a technology which enables control of the electricity network to improve network capacity, manage bidirectional energy flows and maintain a stable system for the integration of distributed energy resources. Head of Finance & Governance Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer. Purpose To manage all aspects of financial control including policy development, reporting, procurement, tax, VAT, bank account, payroll, business planning and budget to ensure that all stakeholders have timely and accurate information for decision making which will ensure the success of the business. To be responsible for corporate governance through collaboration with the executive team to determine effective ways to handle corporate funding, tax issues and growth financing. This includes the preparation of board reports, board meeting agenda and board meeting minutes, in accordance with the articles of association. Primary duties · Promote and demonstrate the company values, encouraging a corporate culture which is in line with Company values and supports the business achieving its milestones. · Align processes, procedures, and policies within the finance and governance functions of the Company. · Provide the company with accurate, reliable, and timely financial reporting. · Implement and uphold effective and efficient financial processes. · Manage all financial activities of the business including third party accountants, payroll service provider and banking. · Reconcile corporate balance sheets and deliver summary reconciliation reports to the executive team. · Manage all aspects relating to HMRC tax compliance. · In conjunction with third party legal advisors, ensure that all aspects relating to Companies House matters are strictly adhered to. · Build and uphold relationships with key stakeholders in all areas of the business relating to Finance, Governance and Compliance. · As part of the Executive team provide strategic and tactical guidance in finance and governance. · In conjunction with the CEO, determine the resources required to perform the function of finance and governance. Areas of Responsibility · Finance o Managing the financial transactional process activities of the organisation. o Review Management accounts prepared by the accountants along with preparing any financial analysis for board reporting. o Assist the year end financials and audit process. o Ensure robust financial controls are in place while also monitoring cashflow and solvency. o Compliance with HMRC tax legislation · Governance and Board o Prepare board papers and resolutions for board meetings. o With the support of the Executive team prepare and circulate all shareholder communications. o Provide full administrative support to the board on all board matters. · Compliance o Ensure compliance with the company’s investment documentation and regulatory business requirements. Interfaces · CEO for business decisions relating to the areas of responsibility. · Board for reporting on business finances, including fund raising and governance. · Third Equation Team as an active member for close cooperation in all aspects of the business. Skills · Degree in Accounting or related finance subject · 5 years’ experience of management accounting · In depth understanding of HMRC tax legislation · Experience in managing payroll · Commercial experience of developing funding strategies · Experience at board level participation would be beneficial · Experience in energy sector would be beneficial Competencies · Excellent communication – written and verbal · Focus on detail and analysis · Proactive, self-organised, creative problem solver · Highly motivated · Can-do attitude · Confident at developing strong relationships both internally and externally.
