We are recruiting for our global clients UK Transmission and Distribution division.
A full time Lead Overhead Lines (OHL) Design Engineer. Is needed at their offices in Leicester.
Purpose of the Role:
You will be able to deliver engineering on discrete schemes or tasks across a number of projects, as well as taking ownership and manage overall scheme design delivery and construction support.
Previous experience of leading a team of engineers and discipline specialists to deliver tasks and be the point of contact for construction management, site operatives and clients for appointed schemes.
Be able to provide technical support and input for tendering, and use your development of skills and knowledge, and support others, in line with business needs.
Responsibilities and Duties:
Accept ownership of work to be done (i.e. being required to undertake specific actions within an agreed job boundary, the execution of a delegated task, activity, or process). Including, but not limited to the following:
Manage, coordinate and contribute to delivery of tasks against the programme and budget, reporting and forecasting progress
Ensure delivery of tasks in accordance with Wood, industry and client standards and specifications Scheme level management of time, cost and resource
Ensure effective communication and coordination with Project Managers, Construction Managers, Principal Discipline Engineers and Site Operatives Liaison with Client on design issues
Chair and lead design review and Hazid meetings Checking, approval and assurance of design deliverables.
Preparation and submission of project documentation such as DIDs, TQs and engineering reports, review, appraisal and input into method statements and risk assessment and any supporting construction design studies Identification and development of personal engineering competence and where appropriate the development of others in the team.
Discharging the responsibilities of Design Coordinator under the CDM regulations when appointed on behalf of the company.
Having the obligation and authority to deliver results (i.e. being liable for agreed results to be achieved, the power to enable it, the obligation to achieve in accordance with the agreed standards.)
Process, policy and change control in accordance with company, team and project management procedures and contractual obligations. Design delivery progress and reporting The quality control of ALL design submissions for your schemes
Communication of residual risks and designed mitigations to the project stakeholders Set an excellent personal example on HSSE issues.
Take care of your own health and safety whilst at work; ensure your activities do not adversely affect the health and safety of others or damage the environment Co-operate with the company in all matters of health, safety and environment protection and make your contribution to reducing accidents and conserving natural resources
Formal academic Engineering qualification - Degree or equivalent Chartered (or working towards) status OHL Industry recognised training and certification (desirable)
Experience & Skills:
Significant demonstrable experience in an OHL Engineering environment and proven track record of scheme delivery Knowledge of OHL and related engineering specifications and standards, BSI, ENA Distinct competence or expert knowledge of one or more OHL related civil, structural and temporary works discipline areas Use of engineering, CAD and general document production software Knowledge of HSE and CDM regulations Experience as Design Coordinator Ability to perform Risk Assessments and develop mitigation strategies
Contracting and Consulting experience TNO and/or DNO specification knowledge Client facing presentation experience PLS, ProjectWise, Microstation, AutoCAD Experience as a Principal Designer Chair and/or facilitate Risk Assessment and Hazid meetings
