Our UK Transmission and Distribution client are seeking applications from Overhead Lines (OHL) Design Engineers. This is a permanent position and whilst they are flexible on location, you will be required to visit their offices in Horsham when required.
Purpose of the position:
Deliver drawings, documents and other design deliverables in accordance with engineering procedures, guidance notes and training
Assist the Lead Engineer in overall scheme design delivery, construction support and design management
Development of skills and knowledge, and support others, in line with business needs
Responsibilities and Duties:
Accept ownership of work to be done (i.e., being required to undertake specific actions within an agreed job boundary, the execution of a delegated task, activity, or process). Including, but not limited to the following:
Delivery of tasks against the programme and budget as directed by the lead engineer
Delivery of tasks in accordance with Wood, industry and client standards and specifications
Personal and delivery package level management of time and cost
Checking of design deliverables in which you have a CAS level 2 score
Identification and development of personal engineering competence and where appropriate the development of others in the team
Having the obligation and authority to deliver results (i.e., being liable for agreed results to be achieved, the power to enable it, the obligation to achieve in accordance with the agreed standards.)

Qualifications
Essential:
Formal academic engineering qualification - HNC or equivalent
Desirable:
Degree in engineering
OHL Industry recognised training and certification
Experience, Skills and Knowledge Essential:
Demonstrable experience in an OHL engineering environment
Knowledge of OHL and related engineering specifications and standards, BSI, ENA
Knowledge of OHL related civil, structural and temporary works activities
Use of engineering, CAD and general document production software
Knowledge of HSE and CDM regulations
Desirable:
Contracting and Consulting experience
TNO and/or DNO specification knowledge
PLS, ProjectWise, MicroStation, AutoCAD
Ability to perform Risk Assessments
