PROJECT MANAGER (T & D)

This companies Transmission and Distribution division are seeking a Project Manager with extensive experience of working on National Grid Overhead Lines Projects (OHL) across the UK.

In addition to being responsible for the management and safe delivery of multi-million-pound OHL Projects, you will have a flair for business development and have substantial experience bidding and tendering for work on the National Grid Framework .

 

Main Role and Responsibilities:

Demonstrate excellent leadership skills in safety & people management Prepare win plans for strategic bids and tenders.

Responsible for the successful management and delivery of all stages of an assigned project to meet the key programme milestones.

Provide support and preparation for the mobilisation of new projects.Accountable for the approval of the scope of works, the plan and estimate for each element of the project.

Accountable for team consistency in the preparation and presentation of project controls to be deployed on the project, including but not limited to; PMP, QA/QC Plan, project programme, risk & change management, EVM analysis, internal budget control and cash flow.

Prioritising the assignment of project resources and resolving conflicting requirements to actively seeking to improve and optimise project delivery. Ensure that performance management ethos and practice is adopted by project delivery teams.

Ensuring the successful resolution of issues and challenges on individual projects as required.

Providing guidance and leadership and when necessary acting in the role of trouble-shooter.

Qualifications:

Engineering qualification (Degree / HND / HNC) or equivalent industry track record.

Project management qualification

National Grid Authorisations

Commercial and Contractual awareness

Ability to lead and build project teams

Be able to work away from home regularly and for prolonged periods

Recognised Safety qualification ISOH / NEBOSH or equivalent

Skills and Experience:

Demonstrable significant experience of working with National Grid.

Demonstrable experience of leading and managing project teams on OHLs projects through all phases of the project life-cycle from bid to delivery stage, demonstrating their ability to direct the operations of a project unit to ensure set goals are achieved

Skilled applying project management principles and methodologies in seeking solutions to complex project problems.

Experience of managing the design requirements for OHLs projects inclusive of commercial budgets.

Experience of developing and managing good working relationships with client and sub-contractors. Knowledge and working understanding of OHL installation techniques.

Financial and commercial understanding.

Fully conversant with NG Technical Standards, policies and procedures. Hold a full driving licence

You will be an experienced Quantity Surveyor with proven ability to manage and deliver the commercial performance of the projects. You shall possess excellent negotiating, communication and supervisory skills and the ability to direct commercial activities within the business environment. You will be responsible for supporting the management in the commercial processes, ensuring that business objectives are met whilst at the same time respecting all statutory and commercial requirements. Your Key Responsibilities Ensure cost control is maintained on a project basis throughout all functions (procurement, delivery, design etc.) Provide contractual advice to project and operational personnel. Inform the appropriate management of project contractual issues and points of dispute and resolution. Ensure project personnel understand the application issues of the contractual conditions. Accountable for the management,collation, interpretation and analysis of project commercial records. Accountable for the Preparation, review and monitoring against the Project Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) in line with project requirements and the ELF and CVR Procedures.
