The R&D centre of excellence for software development for our client is based in Edinburgh.
They create technology and tools that make a meaningful difference to people’s lives; helping doctors to help their patients restore their health and well-being.
They now have a very exciting opportunity for a technical manager to join their viewers & decision support group. This group works on technology used in applications that bring clinical data together to provide physicians with visibility of all their patient’s data in one place, through an intelligent, intuitive and user-friendly interface. A key focus of the team is on medical imaging functionality, but increasingly other data such as genomic information in equally important. The team also provides technology using both rules based and artificial intelligence approaches to decision support that is incorporated into the workflow of these applications for the diagnosis, treatment and follow up of disease.
To lead this group you will need desire and energy, and the ability to inspire that in others. You will already be great at helping people to grow to be their best and you will have fully made the transition of values from being an individual contributor to a manager. You will now feel ready to be a manager of managers - or you already are one.
You will be skilled in agile project management and have a strong track record of delivery of scientific software research and development.
You'll be the sort of person who naturally engages with the life and culture of an organisation, and you will be happy to shape and influence it. You are starting to get involved in jointly developing strategic goals and then turning that strategy into execution. You can help to lead change, influence culture and take on additional responsibilities outside of just delivering your project scope.
You already have good commercial experience in a high-tech industry. You have very well-developed communication and negotiation skills, a great deal of personal credibility, and the ability to handle a complex global organisation and external partners. You can be effective when dealing with senior colleagues from these different parts.
Experience of medical imaging is an advantage but it’s by no means a pre-requisite. We are looking for people who have knowledge of industrial or technological SW product development, particularly in a research and development setting. We add value through innovation and technical excellence, so we are interested in your ability to manage scientists, engineers and clinical specialists in such an environment.
